A Home In Your Word

Moving house is often a tricky thing —uprooting oneself from a place of familiarity and being transplanted into a place full of potential…a new space in which you may not immediately feel comfortable. It will take some time to nestle into new corners and choose favorite spots to rest in. It will take effort to fill empty spaces with meaningful momentos and rare treasures, it requires repetition to remember where necessities are stored—and as you return there day after day, alone or with your family, life will create for you the memorable moments that make a house a home. Eventually you won’t need a light to make it to the fridge for a midnight snack. In the darkness you will know how to maneuver to find just what you need. Unless it’s out of place, no chair or stair can be an obstacle for you; you know the lay of the land by heart now.

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the LORD, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”

Psalm 91:1-2 NKJV

Lord make for us a home in your Word. Move us to a new place of occupancy. Before we take territory for your kingdom, help us to settle down into truth and find solace there. May we be so at home there that we seldom want to leave it. May we know exactly where to reach to get what we need, even in the dark night of the soul. God this Word is Your design and construction built on Christ’s unshakable foundation. You’ve invited us to take residence. Holy Spirit, reveal every intimate detail of these Holy Scriptures. Be the Guest of Honor at our love feasts – in our seeking times of devotion. You are welcome to show up anytime, in fact, You are invited. Teach us all we need to know that we would make this house a home, and help us abide there safely for the rest of our days.
