Bishop Dr. Hamilton Taitt

The late Bishop Rev. Dr. Hamilton Taitt is the co-founder of Faith & Life Fellowship Ministries, along with his wife Lady Ethelence Taitt who co-pastored with him. He was a man of exceptional character and a true servant of God. Bishop Dr. Hamilton Whitfield Taitt was born on the island of Barbados in the Caribbean on November 6, 1940 to Prince Albert and Winifred Ismay Taitt. He spent his formative years in St. Joseph, Barbados where he was the youngest of 4 children. For a few years he taught elementary school, before he was called to the Ministry. He pastored several churches in the Wesleyan Holiness Church and was the District Superintendent of 46 churches in the Barbados and St. Vincent region.

Bishop Taitt migrated with his family to Miami, Florida in the late 1980s. He worked as a Mental Health Technician and Chaplain at Jackson Memorial Hospital and pastored the Beulah Pilgrim Holiness Church in North Miami for 11 years. In 1998, he founded Faith & Life Fellowship Ministries in Miami, then relocated the church to Hollywood, Florida, where he was Pastor and later installed as Bishop. Under his leadership, Faith and Life Fellowship Ministries developed in its ministries. He established a Bible Institute to train, equip and empower people in Biblical studies and ministry, through the Evangelical Training Association. A food distribution ministry was also established and serves hundreds of people in the Hollywood community on Saturdays. Bishop Taitt and the missionary team of Faith and Life Fellowship Ministries travelled to many countries including Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Dominican Republic Tortola, British Virgin Islands and Ghana, Africa. On one of the missionary trips to Ghana, Africa, the missionaries led an intensive three-week ministerial training for 167 ministers and church leaders, and ordained 99 into ministries. Subsequently, 2 churches were established and several ministers in Ghana, Africa were installed to form a branch of Faith and Life Fellowship Ministries. Bishop Taitt and his wife held the positions of General Overseers of these churches in Ghana, Africa and in Hollywood, Florida.

Bishop Taitt had a perpetual love for learning and held multiple degrees, including Doctor of Theology (Th.D.) – Covington Theological Seminary; Master of Sacred Theology (STM) – Yale University; Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, Economics, and Sociology (BA) – University of the West Indies; Bachelor of Arts in Theology ((BA) Honors) – University of the West Indies/Codrington College; and Diploma in Christian Theology – Caribbean Wesleyan College.

Bishop Taitt’s passion and theological perspective is embodied in his first book published in 1993 entitled Christ is Coming. He most recently authored another book, Look Up, which will be released shortly. Bishop Taitt was well known to quote and emphasize “God first, Family second, and Ministry third”, when referring to Christian priorities. He lived a humble, anointed, loving and devoted life that reflected Jesus. He was a Godly, inspirational leader, teacher, preacher, Pastor and mentor to many across cultures, countries and generations. As a gifted, wise and progressive thinker, he received contentment in giving back, especially to the next generation.

Bishop Taitt was a family man, who thoroughly enjoyed spending quality time with his large family on vacations, recreational activities or at home. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Lady Ethelence Taitt; 5 children, in-laws, grandchildren, 2 siblings, FLFM Global Church Family, and many other relatives and loved ones.

On December 8, 2018, Bishop Dr. Hamilton Taitt went to be with the Lord. He is greatly loved and missed by all family members, colleagues, friends and those he served in the church at large. His legacy continues through those who carry out his vision of building God’s kingdom and Godly families, and a foundation has been formed by the family in his honor.
